Jinja: There was scuffle between Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi, Supporters and Security operatives comprised of UPDF and Uganda Police in Jinja District yesterday as he was hosted on NBS Fm radio station
After listening to his voice on radio, Kyagulanyi supporters gathered around the station to sight on him after the show, which police didn’t tolerate since it’s against presidential directives of COVID-19.
At the end of the show, Kyagulanyi and Nobert Mao who was also a panelist came out of the studio reaching outside were surrounded by thousands of supporters with no observation to SOPs of COVID-19 which caused more pressure to police resulting in firing of teargas to disperse them.
During running battles between security personnel and Bobi Wine supporters, police led by Kiira Regional Police Commander, Mr Dauda Hiriga escorted Kyagulanyi out of Jinja City to Njeru town before he was told to proceed to Kampala.
Kiira Police Spokesperson, Mr Abbey Ngako said the security deployment in the city was not intended to intimidate the public but to provide security and prevent some criminals from taking advantage of the situation to loot or destroy people’s property.
“As you could see police was also providing security to Mr Kyagulanyi. We don’t want him to get any problems in our city. The situation was generally peaceful until a section of his supporters turned rowdy,” Mr Ngako said.
Kyagulanyi later tweeted, “This morning, I beat so many road blocks which had been mounted to block me from getting to Jinja to speak on radio. On hearing my voice, they surrounded the station and fired teargas and bullets to disperse the multitude of residents who came to show solidarity. We shall overcome,”

This is now the third media talk show of Hon. Kyagulanyi since the Electoral Commission (EC) declared a revised road map of 2020/21 general elections that proposed a ‘scientific polls’.
All the three programs from CBS radio talk show on Saturday ‘Palamenti Yaffe’, on Sapientia radio, and Jinja NBS radio, MP Kyagulanyi attracts crowds of people despite the preventive measures of COVID-19.
While appearing on the above shows, Hon Kyagulanyi has continuously opposed the ‘Scientific elections’ which he claims that it is against democracy and the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.
