Mbarara City, Kitara, Police FC To A Flying Start Of Fufa Big League

2022/2023 FUFA Big League season got underway Thursday with Mbarara City Football Club which was relegated from the top flight thumping Booma FC 3-1 at Kakyeka Stadium.

Henry Kitengenyi opened the score for the Ankole Lions from the spot in the 8th minute after he was brought down in the penalty area.

Sadat Nsubuga doubled the lead for the hosts in the added time towards the break to inspire his team to a fighting second half.

Ten minutes to the final whistle, Kitengenyi finalised his brace to make it 3-0 to the hosts before the visitors found their consolation through Denis Omedi.

Elsewhere, Uganda cranes striker Patrick Henry Kaddu’s hattrick inspired Kitara FC to a 4-0 victory over Northern gateway at Kigaaya COU Playground.

In another encounter, Police FC beat Lugazi FC 1-0 away from home thanks to Emmanuel Mugume’s goal scored in the 22nd minute of the game.

The Cops who got relegated from the Star Times Uganda Premier League last season hope to bounce back straight and collecting points as early as possible is important according to head Coach Angelo Lonyesi.

In other games, Calvary FC lost 2-1 to NEC FC in Yumbe, Ndejje University shared spoils with newcomers Jinja North United in a goalless stalemate in Luwero while Luwero United beat newcomers Kaaro Karungi 3-1 and Soroti FC were 2-1 Victorious against Adjumani TC FC.

The top three teams at the end of the season are promoted to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League with the bottom three relegated to their respective regional Leagues.
