Kampala: The Uncut team had the distinct honour of meeting Owek. Charles Peter Mayiga, the Katikkiro of Buganda, during an exclusive visit to Bulange, Mengo. From the moment they departed, the team was greeted by fans and well-wishers, many of whom admired their cultural attire.
Upon arrival, they were treated to remarkable hospitality. From the warm reception by the security team to the thoughtful refreshments, it was clear that the team was not just a group of visitors but respected guests.
During the meeting, the Katikkiro shared his admiration for Uncut, mentioning that he occasionally follows their digital content. He commended the team’s efforts in promoting culture, particularly through their traditional attire.
Additionally, the Katikkiro shared valuable lessons on life skills, focus, discipline, and the fight against HIV, urging the team to remain committed to hard work, cultural engagement, and national development. He also expressed gratitude for Next Media’s ongoing support of the Kabaka’s initiatives.
Sandra Lian, one of the Uncut presenters, reflected on the experience, saying, “Meeting the Katikkiro was a truly inspiring moment. He’s so engaging and welcoming; it felt more like talking to a mentor than a royal official.”
