Uganda Airlines Tightens Belt On Fight Against COVID-19, Announces Fresh SOPs

Uganda Airlines has announced new COVID-19 restriction measures aimed at curbing the infections that have been entering the country via the airport.

In the new measures, beginning September 3, 2021, all travellers irrespective of vaccination status or country of origin will be required to arrive with a negative PCR test done not more than 72 hours prior to travel.

The airline also announced that the travellers will “be required to undergo mandatory testing at their own cost upon arrival.”

Uganda has thus far registered 120,075 positive novel coronavirus cases and 3,023 deaths.

A total of 1,376,986 persons have also been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Yesterday alone, Ministry confirmed 160 new cases bringing the cumulative confirmed cases to 120,075. 

The breakdown of the new cases are: 159 Alerts and Contacts: Serere (39), Kumi (18), Oyam (10), Kampala (23), Arua (8), Gulu (3), Kisoro (3), Mitooma (3), Ntoroko (3), Kabale (3), Wakiso (14), Soroti (3), Adjumani (2), Amuria (2), Isingiro (2), Mbale (2), Kalaki (2), Kanungu (2), Kazo (2), Rukungiri (1), Kyotera (2), Kween (1), Lira (1), Kalangala (1), Luweero (1), Iganga (1), Kabarole (1), Terego (1), Kaberamaido (1), Buliisa (1), Mbarara (1), Amuru (1) 1 Truck driver from Kampala.
